Reggio-Inspired Preschool

Located in the heart of Santa Rosa, California, Storybook Village is a relationship-driven, nature-based preschool inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. Nestled beside a magical creek, our school is home to a beautiful outdoor classroom where children can explore, discover, and learn through nature and sensory-rich experiences. We offer year-round, full-day care and education for children starting at two years old through Transitional Kindergarten. Since 2019, we’ve been more than a preschool—we’re a place where children are loved, respected, and celebrated for who they are and who they are becoming.

Friendship-Driven Learning

At Storybook Village Preschool, our dedicated early childhood educators help children make sense of their world through a Reggio-inspired approach that nurtures social-emotional learning, problem-solving, and lasting friendships. As the first and only private preschool in Sonoma County to serve as a Partner Implementation Site for the California Collaborative on the Social-Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CA CSEFEL) Teaching Pyramid, we are proud to lead the way in fostering healthy development and positive relationships. We honor the diverse emotions, ideas, and abilities that each child brings, and we work in close partnership with families to support every child through a play-based, friendship-centered program.

Creek Groups

Storybook Village Preschool’s location along Santa Rosa Creek is a true hidden gem—a magical place where children and grown-ups can wander, wonder, and connect with the natural world. Nature is our playground, and the creek is our classroom. In small groups of 2–6 children, we journey to the creek to explore its many wonders. We search for birds and wildlife, discover plants and tiny treasures, and watch as the creek changes with the seasons. Each visit becomes a little adventure, inviting children to follow their curiosity, ask questions, and build a lasting connection with the natural world just beyond our preschool yard.

School Kitchen

At Storybook, we go beyond just serving meals. We are growing an edible garden to promote hands-on gardening to table learning! Our daily school snacks are carefully prepared to establish lifelong healthy habits in children. What's unique is that these meals are served friendship-style, with our teachers joining the children at the table. This not only helps in mealtime communication but also fosters skill development. Children are offered a variety of tasty and nutritious food, and they are encouraged to choose what they want to eat. Love for Literacy

Storybook Village Preschool fosters a love for literacy and learning through shared reading experiences, creating a literacy-rich environment with quality books indoors and outdoors and meaningful conversations. Every moment counts—whether our educators promote self-help skills, support positive transitions, or diapering and caregiving routines, they are in a literacy-learning moment. In addition, the preschoolers build age-appropriate reading skills through the Zoo-phonics Multisensory Language Arts Program. As a result, toddlers and preschoolers master developmentally appropriate literacy and language skills that foster a love for literacy.

Family Involvement

Storybook is about embracing families' cultures and traditions as a mark of respect that tells our young children that where they come from matters as much as where they're going. Storybook provides many opportunities to build strong and positive home-school connections. Our goal is to be a place where all children and their families can feel comfortable being themselves within our caring community of learners and are encouraged to dream big by fostering their imagination and creativity every day. We hope each family's support network expands as they become members of our caring preschool community since everyone needs a village!
